I am here yet you do not see me
I gaze at you with selfish longing
My heart cries for you yet you won’t hear it
Perhaps you’re too busy with other things
I searched through the depths for a connection
Until exasperated I stopped my hunting
Such limitations of my strength and will
Cannot fathom what I truly feel
Yet in the midst I saw you in front of me
Reaching out your hand as if to help
This soothe my shattered soul
For a moment I treasured and kept
And with this you held up my heart
Like a thief in the night you stole my affection
Like a shepherd you tended my bruised ego
Like a knight you rescued my soul
Just when things are going well
Right about the time you began to truly see me
A cloud of doubt turned into pouring rain
That turned our lives together into mist and haze
Now like it was nothing
Vaporized into thin air
Still my heart cannot lie, or it feeds on denial
A connection still lies there somewhere
When I see you now, will you still see me?
Will you reach out and capture my heart once more?
Will you console me after the big storm?
Will you ever answer my questions?
When I saw you, you looked right through me
As if I was the wall that separated you from the world
But who am I to keep you, when it’s best to let go?
And hope against hope that our paths will cross once more.
